A double chance pick covers two of the three match results at once: 1X is the home team or a draw, X2 is a draw or the away team, and 12 is either team winning (no draw). It is settled on the 90-minute result plus stoppage time; extra time and penalties do not count.
Our model rates every team's attack and defence from recent results, adds home advantage and builds a probability for every scoreline from 0-0 to 10-10. Adding up those scorelines gives the home win, draw and away win chances, and each double chance is the sum of two of them. For every match we show the likeliest of the three.
Fair odds are 100 divided by the percentage: 80% equals 1.25 and 70% equals 1.43, with no bookmaker margin. Because it covers two outcomes, double chance lands far more often than a straight win pick, but the fair odds are short and an 80% pick still fails about one time in five.
